What's The Ground
Like? |
Cappielow is a fair sized
ground, full of character, but beginning to show its age. However, with a
new Chairman on board, efforts are being made to brighten up and improve
the overall state of the ground. The Grandstand on one side of the ground, is a single tiered, all seated
stand, which has a number of supporting pillars in front. On its
roof are a set of unusual striking floodlights, another set of which are
also on the stand opposite. The Cowshed as it is known, is a classic looking stand and is unusual in the respect that
it has seating at the front of it and terracing at its rear. Both ends are open
to the elements. The Wee Dublin End, is a former terrace,
with white benches bolted onto it, which makes it look out of
place. This end is normally not used on match days. Beyond can be seen a large crane, which is reminiscent of
the ship building days on the Clyde. Opposite is the small Sinclair Street
Terrace, that has a small clock behind it.

Future Developments |
The Club have bought the Kerr Reid Stand from the St Mirren, who have
now left Love Street for a new stadium. It is planned that this will allow
the Club to cover the Wee Dublin End of the ground.

What Is It Like
For Visiting Supporters? |
Fans are housed in one side of the
Grandstand, towards the Dublin End of the ground. There are a fair few
pillars in this stand that may impede your view and the leg room is on the
tight side. For larger games then the Wee Dublin End can also be
allocated for away fans to use. A visit to Cappielow is normally a relaxed day
out and the Morton fans do their best to get behind their team.

The Norseman Bar is right by the ground
and is popular with both home and away fans. It can
get quite busy on matchdays, but it is still the favoured pre-match venue. Top Of

How To Get There
By Car & Where To Park |
From Glasgow head on the M8 and then A8
towards Greenock (along which you get a fine view of Castle Rock in
Dumbarton). Follow the A8 into Greenock and you will reach the ground on
your left. It's just after going under a bridge with Picollo's fish & chip
shop on the corner. There is a car park opposite the main entrance, which is
free, otherwise street
parking.

The nearest station to the ground is
Cartsdyke which lies on the Glasgow Central - Gourock line. The journey
from Glasgow takes around 40 minutes and then the ground is about a five minute walk from Cartsdyke Station.
