What's The Ground
Like? |
The ground is predominantly
terracing, with terraces behind each goal and along one side of the pitch.
There is an unusual looking Main Stand on the other side of the ground.
This covered all seated stand, runs for around half the length of the
pitch. The seating is raised above pitch level and there are a number of
supporting pillars, plus a couple of floodlight pylons which could impede
your view. Opposite there is a small covered area in the middle of the
terrace towards the rear. Again it has a number of supporting pillars
running across the front of it, with a row of four floodlight pylons in
front, running along the perimeter of the pitch. Recently the club have
embarked on covering the Clackmannan Road End of the ground, with a small
roofing structure, to at least give home fans some protection in poor
weather. During the Summer of 2007, the pitch was replaced with an
artificial surface.

What Is It Like
For Visiting Supporters? |
With the covering of the Clackmannan Road
End of the ground, the Club have decided to now enforce segregation for
games. Therefore away fans will now be predominantly housed in Railway End
of the ground and/or the Hilton Road Terrace running down one
side of the pitch. Both these terraces are open to the elements, so be prepared to
get wet. Normally a relaxing and enjoyable visit. Top Of

Where To Drink? |
There are no bars in the immediate
vicinity of the ground. Duncan Condie informs me; 'I believe that The Bank
and The Thistle are good pubs for a pre-match drink. Both are in the town
centre about 5-10 minutes walk along Clackmannan Road'. Also in the
town centre at Junction Place is the Thistle Bar which is attached to the
Maclay's Thistle Brewery. So you would hope to get a great pint there! Top Of

The ground is easy to find at it is
located on the A907, on the East side of town. If approaching from
Stirling, continue on the A907 through the centre of Alloa and you will eventually
reach the ground on your left. Street Parking.

The nearest station is in Stirling which
is around seven miles away. Mark Nixon adds; 'There are a number of
buses that leave Stirling Bus Station (which is adjacent to the railway
station) which go past Alloa's ground or to Alloa Town Centre':
No:14 to Dunfermline - hourly service, right past the ground.
No:60 to Clackmannan - every 20 minutes, right past the ground.
No:63 to Alloa - every 20 minutes, to Alloa town centre.Top Of

Hotel
Accommodation |
If you require hotel accommodation in the
area then first try a hotel booking service provided
by Football Hotels who are powered by Activehotels, who
specialise in locating accommodation near or within a short travelling
distance of the football ground. They also have the added advantage over
some other hotel booking services that you pay on departure.
Yes this site will earn a small commission if you book through them, but
it will go to help with the running costs of keeping the Guide going.
